Asia in Focus Multi-Stakeholder Knowledge Sharing on Plastic Initiatives

You are cordially invited to our pre-INC-4 event, a significant occasion addressing the urgent issue of plastic pollution in Asia. Recognising the crucial role of countries in this region, the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) and the Institute for Global Environment Strategies (IGES), supported by the Ministry of the Environment of Japan, are spearheading efforts to facilitate regional collaboration and targeted action.

This urgency has been further emphasised by the dynamic convergence of experts and stakeholders in the first week of March, which included the INC-4 Regional Consultation of the Asia-Pacific States, ERIA-IGES Initiatives through OECD-G20 Policy Dialogue, and the 5th ERIA's Experts Working Group on Marine Plastic Debris, alongside the Multi-Stakeholder Knowledge-Sharing Meeting on Plastic Pollution. These gatherings have generated significant momentum in the collective fight against plastic pollution. Key themes such as knowledge sharing, data utilisation, technology, and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) have emerged as focal points for action.

Building on the discussions and insights from the preceding events, ERIA and IGES are pleased to invite you to the Asia in Focus: Multi-Stakeholder Knowledge Sharing on Plastic Initiatives. This event aims to further foster knowledge sharing, collaborations, and policy-driven strategic dialogue among stakeholders to develop policies and for effectively addressing plastic pollution in Asia.
