At Laguna Redang Island Resort, we proudly champion the 3Rs—Reduce, Reuse, Recycle—as a cornerstone of our environmental initiatives. This approach is vital to our waste management strategy, helping us significantly reduce waste, conserve natural resources, and save both landfill space and energy.
Our activities related to 3R practices include:
Trash-to-Cash program
Recyclable items such as boxes, used cooking oil, used lubricant oil, plastics and tin cans are sold to the collectors. This is a collective effort from various departments. Total sales of recycled items for 2022 & 2023 were RM 8150.29 and RM 14,927.68 respectively.
Outreach and education
At Laguna, we host environmental events like Global Recycling Day and Earth Hour. During Global Recycling Day, we held an interdepartmental Waste to Wealth Competition to raise awareness about recycling and reducing consumption. We encouraged staff to create items like plant containers and tissue boxes using recycled materials such as glass bottles, plastics, and cardboard. These inventions were displayed at our World Earth Day and World Ocean Day events, where guests were invited to judge them.
